Week 3, Day 7

This week has gone by fast. I have been studying ahead and I have finished my week 4 paper and now I am working on the week 5 paper which is shorter (350-700 words). I have also found this wonderful resource - center for math excellence- at the school library and I am using the material there to study for my CLEP which I need to take pretty soon.
My financial aid has not yet come in there was a small delay in processing, I kinda wish all this was done before I started taking classes that way I know for a fact whether its all paid up or not and how much will have to be out of pocket.

P.S. I just read my first Steinbeck - East of Eden- and I must say it is pretty good and I dont know whom I would choose between him and Faulkner. I read the Notebook too (by Sparks) and I am not impressed, the book is a piece of **** and I will never get my four days back. This just goes to show dont trust them critics!!

Week 2, Day 4

So far so good, class discussion is a little more interesting this week and easier too. I received my first grade report and it is good!! The dreaded group work is going well, we are almost done and that is the most kick ass team I have ever been affiliated with.

Week 2, Day 2

This week we get to work in teams and I hate team work because everything takes forever, however I should say I prefer being paired up than being in a large team. The assignment is to post a team charter - so its pretty simple and not time intensive at all. I have a 500 word essay due on day 7 but other than that I have done the DQ's and just need to post them.

So far this has been a great option and choice for me. It is not time consuming and I am finally getting a good schedule/rhythm going.

Day 4

I am a little late with this post for day four. People spend too much time belly-aching and comparing scars instead of sticking to the topic at hand...I feel sorry for the teachers who have to read and sort thro this much personal stuff....n'way so far week one seems to have gone well and I met all my deadlines - I hope....
I still havent received my pell grant funding so, that is something to look forward to, but the stafford loans have come through. The total amount I need per year is a little over 12 thousand and without the pell, I will owe about 1000....maybe next year I could go to another school thats local and possibly less expensive.

Day 2 and 3

I dont think I understand how the class participation works. I read through everybody's post and there is nothing for me to comment on. Most of it is people agreeing with what other people said and there is someone who disagreed with what I had said, which is very annoying considering she didnt read the post or she read bits and pieces of it and made assumptions then responded to it. I started to respond back to her but I didnt want a back and forth and cat fite (possibly) coz I was miffed.
Anyway I checked this morning and the posts are still not respond-able so I sent an email to the teacher asking her about this drought.....I will check later, I still have 5 days to the end of the week.

Day 1

Today I spoke to my advisor - Lexi and posted my bio in the chat room. I am in the process of doing the weeks assignments. Among other assignments, we have to post answers to 2 discussion questions and they have to each have a minimum of 150 words. So good so far.

N.B...I spoke to a highschool classmate of mine who I am so excited to have found on FB...yeay!!

Before it Began

Early this year we purchased a computer with a pretty/beautiful monitor - if I may say so myself - and I do. One of the reasons for this substantial purchase, is because we realised that since my first born will be in kindergarten this year then I could take online classes while I was home with my daughter and when she is ready to start school I will be graduating.
We are a family of four. My wonderful husband - to whom I am not legally married- is a plumber and works hard but the economy has not been blue collar friendly and the in the industry he's in alot of the companies are privately owned therefore the wages are not good (considering the work they do) especially if you do not know the owner or you dont have friends in high places or if you have values - as is the case with him.
Our desire is to always have one of us available to the children about 90% of the time, however this seems like a pipe dream. We have seen the effect on kids when both parents are working and are busy and gone- this is not to say it doesnt always work- but in our immediate family and others not so immediate, the effect on the kids has not been something we desire for ours, hence the desire that one of us is available for the kids. However with me returning to school, and student loans being taken out it seems we will both be working in about 3 years (if i get a job that is ). I should mention though that my husband - God willing- will be getting his Master licence certification next year and this will enable him to start his own company, should things go that way.
Around Feb. this year I learned that one of my friends had enrolled at the UOP and so I started to look into it. They assigned an advisor who has walked me thro the process and has been very encouraging. I am returning to school after about 4 year absence so I am nervous that re-entering the workforce will not be easy.
Finally I should say that we believe in God without whom none of this would be possible......Amen!
